Hi! My name is Mishelle, and I’m the one behind the camera at Shelle Photo. I absolutely love what I do, and am so lucky I get to do it.

It’s always fun to get to know new people, so here’s a few fun facts about me!

1. My business name.. “Shelle” (like a sea shell) is a nod to my family. My mom named me Mishelle, with an S, with intentions of calling me Shelle or Shelley. Though, no one ever called me that until I was in my 20’s. It was actually my nephew that started calling me “Auntie Shelle”. That now almost 23 year old nephew, and 5 my nieces, all still call me Auntie/Aunt Shelle. I’m still Mishelle to every one else.

2. I studied photography at the University of North Florida, and have a Bachelor’s in Fine Art. I have been doing some sort of photography since 2002. Photographing newborns and their families is the most enjoyable and rewarding, by far!

3. The first time I ever used my passport was to sign on to an international cruise ship. I worked as an on board photographer for Norwegian Cruise Lines, and visited places around the world I never thought I would see. The last week, of my last contract, I purchased a jade ring for myself to remind me of my travels. I’ve worn it every day since I purchased it.

4. I grew up in North Florida, but have lived in New Jersey for 10 years. My first job once I moved to New Jersey, was working with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Coney Island, New York for the summer and managed the guest photo operations. When summer ended, I “ran away with the circus” for a few months. During that time, I was a nursery tech for the performer’s children. So, basically a babysitter during the shows.

5. Now for a funny one…I am subconsciously obsessed with stripes. I realized it one day while shopping. But, not until I had 5 different blue/white or black/white striped shirts try on, and there was a break in the stripes. I didn’t even need a striped shirt. I tried to limit myself, but ultimately purchased 3 of the 5. Once home, I realized 1/3 of my shirts are striped, and tried to have my own intervention. *Spoiler* It didn’t work. I’ve decided to embrace it, and now it’s part of my session day “uniform”. Yoga pants, messy bun, striped tank…and, now a striped mask, too.
