I officially met Carolyn at her niece’s First birthday session this past summer. I had met her previously over FaceTime during her niece’s newborn and milestone sessions, but this time was for real! A few weeks later, her sister contacted me on the “super DL” that she wanted to book me…for Carolyn! I could feel her excited through text! Fast forward to November, and we’re planning out her maternity session. Ideally we wanted a tree farm setting since the baby’s nursery is decorated with evergreens, but with the Christmas season fast approaching, and the tree farms were opening up for business, we had to find an alternate spot.

I had heard about the Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve from a friend so I decided to check it out. I walked a few yards along the trail, and immediately knew this was the place! On the day of the session, when Carolyn and her husband Mike got out of the car, she told me this was where they went for their second date! She didn’t realize until they were pulling into the preserve! How sweet is that! They told me all about their date, and how they bonded over previous bad dates. (We’ve all had those!)

Carolyn wore a long red velvet dress, and Mike wore a black velvet blazer. They looked absolutely stunning against the December trees! Keeping true to themselves, Carolyn wanted to include a more casual outfit too. Hiking boots and a beanie for a maternity session? ABSOLUTELY! I’m so glad they braved the cold and 20mph wind with me! There were a few times I thought I was going to get blown over, but these two were complete champs! And the photos, complete fire!

I’m so excited for these two to become parents and can’t wait to meet their babe in February!
